Obituary for LOIS IMOGENE CONRAD

Lois Imogene Conrad, age 91, Republic, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2018, after a prolonged illness and residence at Republic Nursing and Rehabilitation in Republic. She was born October 5, 1926 in Hurley, Missouri, to William Earl and Effie LouVerna (Logan) Hooten.

Lois was united in marriage to Arvene Conrad on May 29, 1952, in Rogers, Arkansas. After their marriage, they lived in Wichita, Kansas four years before returning to Hurley and later making her home in Billings, Missouri, where she was a member of the Billings Baptist Church.

Lois was active in the community, serving on the Billings Fair Board, routinely working as a poll worker, fulfilling treasurer duties with the Senior Citizens Center, as well as maintaining active memberships in several women’s organizations. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining a large vegetable garden and many beautiful flower gardens. She was also a noted local craftswoman, specializing in sewing and crocheting items for home decorations

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Arvene, a grandson, Kenneth Murray, and her parents. She is survived by two children, Barbara Ann Atwell, Reno, Nevada, and Steve Earl Conrad, Quinlan, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; a brother, Wilburn Hooten,; other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Short Cemetery, south of Hurley, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Regional Hospice.
