Mr. Edward Daniel “Ed” Lyon, age 90, of Billings, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Mercy Hospital Aurora, Aurora, Missouri. He was born on April 25, 1928 in Monroe, New York, the son of the late Daniel Frances and Dorothy (Davis) Lyon.

Ed was united in marriage to Ellen Caroline Willard on September 16, 1950, and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage before she passed away on December 10, 1996.

He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

Ed was employed as an electrician with Empire Electric (now Liberty Utilities). He enjoyed working on his farm, working and building things, like building his own tractor and home, and also enjoyed politics. He was a Jack of all trades, and good at all of them.

He is survived by a son and his wife, Reginald Edward and Belinda Lyon; a daughter and her husband, Deborah and Henry Bos; eight grandchildren, Chris Bos, John Bos, Stephen Bos, Melody Lyon-Herbster and her husband Brendon, Erin Lyon, Regina Lyon, Olivia Lyon, and Ayla Parham; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret; numerous nephews and nieces; a special friend, Anora; and many other relatives and friends.

Per Mr. Lyon’s request, a private family visitation, will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with the burial to follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery, McKinley, Missouri, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home. Family and friends may share online condolences on this website, at
