Obituary for JERRY DEAN HALL

Jerry Dean Hall, age 72, of Springfield Missouri, passed away on December 24, 2018 at Cox South, Springfield Missouri.

Jerry was born on December 11, 1946 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Edna Louise (Stromquist) and Gerald Hall. Jerry grew up in Tekamah, Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hall of Springfield, Missouri. Jerry and Phyllis were united in marriage on May 20, 2001. Jerry is also survived by a son, Michael Chad Hall of Urbandale, Iowa and friend Jennifer Allen; two daughters, Carie Routh and husband Denny of Nixa, Missouri, and Sara Hall of Republic, Missouri; a stepson, Brian Keith Taylor and wife Sonya of Aldrich, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Natalie Gilmore and husband Paul of Morrisville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Hayle Routh and fiancée Ryan Oestreich, Mikayla and Mayci Routh, Chris, Carina, and Cayden Pacheo; eight step grandchildren, Tiffany Corum and husband Tanner, Keith Elliott Taylor and wife Hannah, Micheal Taylor and wife Rachel, Bryant Taylor and friend Grace Dowell, Lauren Taylor, Shelby Paul Gilmore, Austin Neil Gilmore, and Katelyn Lee Gilmore; four step great grandchildren; his three sisters, Deloise Marvine and husband Don of Maryland, Marilyn Burns and husband Robert of New York, and Lynn Hall of California; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Rollie.

Because of Jerry’s kindness and loving personality, he has many additional loved ones and friends who will miss him always.

Jerry was actively involved in his church, Ridgecrest Baptist, where he served in many roles, including a small group leader and door greeter. He also was involved in C.A.P.S., “Church Action Projects of Springfield”, and “C Street Connect Food Pantry”. His life was built around serving and encouraging others.

He joined the U.S. Army and served his country honorably for three years.

Jerry was an Allstate Division Area Manager for most of his career where he received many awards and accolades. Jerry retired in 2012 as a financial broker.

His favorite hobby was reading his Bible, and watching Nebraska Cornhuskers football, win or lose. Other hobbies were playing golf, watching his grandchildren play sports, and making others laugh.

Jerry's favorite line was “It’s a wonderful life."

There will be a visitation from 5 until 7 P. M, Thursday, December 27, 2018, in Meadors Funeral Home, 314 N. Main Ave. Republic, Missouri. Graveside services, with military honors, will be Friday, December 28, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in Morrisville Cemetery, 1158 E. 527th Road, Morrisville, Missouri. The family request memorial contributions be made to the Victory Mission in Springfield, Missouri in care of the funeral home.
