Obituary for RAYMOND ALLEN COKER

His laughter was electric, and his presence was larger than life.
Raymond Allen Coker
October 2, 1979-July 13, 2019

Raymond Allen Coker was welcomed into the world on October 2, 1979, by his mother, Sally Chambers in Marcs, Mississippi. He completed her small four-member family unit that consisted of his two brothers, Steve and Jeff and his sister, Maggie. Little did any of them realize how much he would amazingly impact each of their lives. He was their missing puzzle piece. When Raymond was one, they moved to Southern California where this little family of five formed a strong yet elastic bond that would help them overcome many obstacles and provide a lifetime of magical memories. Raymond completely adored his family; they were his whole world.

Raymond also cherished his friends. He had this incredible magnetic personality that caused almost everyone he met to not only love him but to genuinely like him. He was so giving and accepting; therefore, he rarely met anyone that he did not consider a friend. If you were one of his friends, you knew exactly how lucky you were. He loved and cared and encouraged each of them. His friends admired him and were inspired by him because of the unapologetically way he lived his life to its fullest. Most people would agree that the party did not start until he walked in.

Growing up in California, Raymond played little league, learned to surf and skateboard, enjoyed deep sea fishing, and realized how much he loved being outdoors. He was a kid at heart who enjoyed his free time outside from fishing to frisbee golf. He was a proud member of LIUNA! He started in Hollywood CA at local 724 and would eventually transfer to local 663 in Clever MO. He was a jack of all trades-a master of some. He loved to landscape which is something most people did not know about him. He also considered himself to be the most handsome man who ever walked the earth. Being humble was never one of his strong suits.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Coker and their three beautiful children, Kylie (13), Kayla (9), and Charlie (7); his mother, Sally Berentis and his fathers, Bill Berentis and Ray McCarver; his siblings, Steve O’Bannon, Jeff O’Bannon, Maggie Hunt, and Brian Berentis; his brother-in-law, Larry Hunt; and his sisters-in-law, Michelle O’Bannon and Anne Marie O’Bannon. Raymond was blessed with many special nieces and nephews, Micheal O’Bannon, Cameron O’Bannon, Jeremy O’Bannon, Charity O’Bannon, Riley Hunt, Kelli O’Bannon, Nathan Hunt, Jeffery O’Bannon, Anja O’Bannon, Kaydan O’Bannon, and Deven Bowe.

Raymond considered his kids to be his greatest accomplishment. His family and friends will always remember his boisterous personality and contagious laughter.

This obituary was lovingly written by Raymond’s family.
