Obituary for BELVA JOY DAVIS

Belva Joy Davis, age 80, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on March 5, 2018 after battling a long illness. She was born on August 13, 1937 to Ray Louis and Rachel Ellen Davis of Illinois.

She was a strong, stylish, independent, adventurous woman who left Illinois to move to California “just for fun” and met the Love of Her Life, Oren Roscoe Davis (no relation) in San Diego. They married three months after meeting, following his honorable discharge from the Navy and were married until his death in 1984. They had a happy life and added four children to the family.

Belva will be reunited in Heaven with her husband, Oren; their son, Ray Lester Davis; their daughter, Heather Marie (Davis) Losh Hall; her parents; her sister, Dorothea Lou; her brother Gerald Eugene; and lots of extended family and friends.

She is survived by two of her daughters and their husbands, Darlene D. and Frankie Rose, of Bryant, Ark., and Michelle R. and Jimmy Henslee of Willard, Mo.; the following grandchildren, Lexi Rose, Austin Davis, Hunter Henslee, Ashton Henslee, Lakota Losh, and Loren Losh; as well as several nieces and nephews. Belva was fierce, she was loved, and she will be missed.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., with funeral beginning at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 10, 2018, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Mo. Burial will follow the service in Manley Cemetery, Battlefield, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution be sent to the Children’s Miracle Network, or to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
