Obituary for NOEL A. QUESSENBERRY

Mr. Noel A. Quessenberry, age 77, of Republic, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 in his home, with loving family at his side. He was born on March 24, 1940, in Mansfield, Missouri to Etsle and Elda Quessenberry.

He married Bonnie, the love of his life, after meeting at their workplace Dayton Rubber (Dayco) in 1960 and raised four children. They moved their family to Republic in 1969 where Noel became a home builder taking part in the building boom of Republic in the 70’s. He, along with building homes, opened a cabinet business which he worked along with his sons. He never really retired if you consider he always had to have a project or job in front of him.

Although Noel’s work was as a home builder, taking part in every aspect from drawing a home to the final project, his career should most be known by his passion for craftsmanship and art of wood. Noel could take a piece of wood and mold it into anything imagined. His love and artistic nature with wood was in his blood, creating furniture for their home, wood turning; bowls, vases, keepsakes even wooden flowers for his loved ones.

Noel was also known by lifelong friends as the original outdoors man. It would be hard to guess his favorite. Fishing with his family on the streams and tournament fishing with buddies might be one; but also hunting hundreds of turkey and whitetail deer; or maybe the best would be owning land and living part time in the Gila National Forest, New Mexico. He loved to get the dogs out and run mountain lions and bear (scoring a trophy) and hunting mule deer with the boys on horseback in the mountains. With his family, they built a remote cabin in the forest where friends were invited and guests were welcomed who soon became part of the family. This time was meaningful and never forgotten for anyone blessed enough to join. Noel would probably say give me my family and friends, the outdoors, a gun, and a good pack horse… Now that was a good life.

Noel is survived by his wife Bonnie and their four children, Kerri Corner and her husband Kevin, Cindy Heiserman and her husband Dudley, Kyle Quessenberry and his wife LeAnn, Tyler Quessenberry and his wife Lisa; ten grandchildren and spouses; and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with the funeral service to begin at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in the First Christian Church, Republic, under direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
