Peggy Ann Hensley, age 81, died peacefully at home on May 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was one of five children, born to Ralph and Lorene McBride, in Neosho, Missouri, on November 26, 1936. She graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview, Missouri, in 1954.

Peggy worked many years at the Greene County Clerk’s office and culminated her career as Deputy Secretary of State in Jefferson City, Missouri. She moved back to Springfield in 1986, where she married Robert “Gene” Hensley who was her loving husband of 31 years.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, as well as her children, Gail Morris, Mike (Shelly) Schatz, Karen Schatz, Sarah (Brent) Wilmoth, Robin (Randy) Smith, and Todd (Lorraine) Hensley; grandchildren, Tara (Trent) Plank, Stuart Morris, Clark (Becca) Morris, Eric (Stephanie)Wilmoth, Kyle Wilmoth, Ryan Schatz, Hope Schatz, Matthew (Chiree) Smith, and Rachel Smith; and seven great-
grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Shirley Rue, Pat (Verna) McBride, Jerry McBride, and brother-in-law, Ron Paden, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as a sister, Mary Paden, and her brother-in-law, Joe Rue.

Her joys in life were her family and Hood United Methodist Church, where she was a life-long member. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hood United Methodist Church or to Ozarks Food Harvest.

There will be a visitation from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2018, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, Missouri. The Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in the Hood United Methodist Church, Republic under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic.
