Obituary for LOIS J. GRAY

Mrs. Lois J. Gray, age 89, of Republic, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility, Ash Grove, Missouri. She was born on November 11, 1928, in Tuttle, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charley and Mabel (Balch) Swaney.

Lois was united in marriage to J.B. Gray on August 27, 1947, in Brady, Texas, enjoying almost 55 years of wedding anniversaries before J.B.’s death on July 10, 2002. Others who preceded Lois in death were her parents; and three siblings, Van and Leland Swaney, and Alma Blake.

She is survived by her two children, Dewayne (Liza) Gray, and Carolyn (Don) Heavin; five grandchildren, Jason (Nicole), Jared (Julianne), Kent, Brad (Janelle), and Geni; eight great grandchildren, Jake, Ella, and Ava, Holly and Sierra, Garrett, and Megan and Luke; and many other relatives and friends.

Lois, early in her married life, helped her husband in their dairy business, and was the “office staff” for the family’s different businesses. She and her husband, along with friends, covered many miles in their RV’s. She was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Springfield, Missouri.

The family of Lois wishes to send sincere thanks to the staff of the Ash Grove Healthcare Facility.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial will follow the service in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Children’s Home, 3132 N.
